Learning How to See: Elements in Design
ELEMENTS OF DESIGN
Elements of design plays a major role in composing a photograph in a way that is understood by the viewer consciously or unconsciously. The photographer depends heavily on the elements of design in creating compelling artwork. Understanding these elements in designing a photograph is a fundamental requirement.
Most photographers probably learn just the Rule of Thirds and Leading Lines composition techniques and stick to them. There is a lot more! Elements of design open up myriad opportunities to tap into your creative side and create superior works of art.
By means of a plethora of examples from his three photography books, Roger’s presentation will discuss the most important elements of design: Line, Shape, Form, Texture, Pattern, and Color. These elements will help you design your photograph in such a way that it emphasizes one or several design aspects in composing your photograph.
