We are Helmut, Peggy, and Merlot (our four legged traveling companion). After we retired in 2018, we decided to hit theroad with our 36 ft motorhome and to volunteer in State and National Parks. Our plan is to experience at least two parks every year and to come back to Fort Clinch State Park, FL, to spend the winter season, check on our house and reconnect with friends. We have a short list of States we would like to visit and always plan enough time for sightseeing while “moving” to another park. We are looking forward to five years on the go, serving others as volunteers, making new friends and seeing places we have never seen before. By the way, our motorhome was named Loon in memory of a beautiful antique motorsailer Peggy’s parents owned. We are happy that you are following us In the Wake of Loon.

While I grew up in the Midwest and enjoyed photography from a young age, I developed my passion during a 28-year military career. During that time I have visited 27 Countries and have taken photographs in many of these far off places. During that time I learned to shoot manual with film cameras and developed different photography skills until I switched to digital cameras in 2004. Since my military retirement in 2006, I’ve had a great deal of time to pursue my love of photography.
My photography is primarily landscapes, especially beach scenes, Black and White shots, and Nature photography. Special techniques I use in some of my photography are rendering HDR images, photo stacking, and liquid art photography.
Currently, I live in Fernandina Beach with my lovely wife, Patti, and our Chihuahua wonder dog, Fuji.
